| SIG – Geographic Information System, PIMS® latest innovation.
A user-friendly tool developed to meet the needs of cost management and traditional day-to-day management, as well as support to the practice of precision agriculture.
O PIMS – SIG has a time-space relational base and is connected to the PIMS database, which eliminates redundancies and, as a consequence, rework. It is simple to use and has all safety and sturdiness required in handling maps, since all geometric data remain compact and stored in the database.
O PIMS – SIG is based on the Terralib public library of the National Institute of Research and Statistics (INPE - Brazil) to manage and store geographic data in relational-object databases.
It allows topic consultations of grouped data in maps through numberless topics, such as, variety, production environment, topography, soil type.
It is also possible to conduct searches based on time data, such as
:
Which places present a CTH lower than 50 in the 2004 harvest season ?
Which places present a PC between 13 and 17 for the harvest period from June to July/2005?
Which
places present infestation levels over 5%
?
Which
places have roads crossing electric power lines
?
Which
places are within 5 km radium of a vicinal road
?
Cell
maps and central points may be obtained through PIMS - SIG, simplifying field samples. It also allows printing of maps and consultation, providing management with a great number of report options, meeting all needs of the user.
With PIMS – SIG,
the decision-making process is simple and timely, since it combines geographic and tabular data in an environment more easily understood by users

With this technology, producers have subsidies to apply precision agriculture in their crops, thus reducing costs, resources - equipment and input - and providing enhanced quality production (sugar cane, grains, citrus, etc.).
